Students who are deafblind have unique learning needs that require thoughtful, individualized educational approaches. Join us for an in-person workshop on August, 12, 2026 at the OCLC Conference Center in Dublin, OH with Maurice Belote, as he provides an overview of instructional strategies that support access, communication, engagement, and meaningful participation for learners who are deafblind, with a special emphasis on students with CHARGE syndrome and other common causes of deafblindness.
Participants will explore how combined vision and hearing loss impacts learning, communication, social interactions, sensory processing, and access to information. Practical strategies and considerations for creating supportive learning environments will be shared, along with examples of accommodations, communication supports, and collaborative practices that can be used across educational settings. The session is designed for educators, related service providers, interveners, families, and anyone interested in supporting students with deafblindness.
