Program description: : A STABLE account is an investment and savings account administered by the Ohio Treasurer’s Office and available to eligible individuals with disabilities. The money in STABLE accounts can be used for qualified disability-related expenses, such as education, housing, and transportation. STABLE accounts allow people with disabilities to save money without losing their eligibility for federally funded benefits such as Medicaid or Supplemental Security Income (SSI).

Guest speaker: Alaina Bowers is the External Affairs Manager for the STABLE Account Program within the Ohio Treasurer’s Office. In her role, she collaborates with state agencies, community organizations, and other stakeholders to promote the expansion and accessibility of the STABLE Account program. Alaina’s day-to-day responsibilities include promoting awareness, educating individuals and organizations, and advocating for the benefits of the STABLE Account program. Alaina is proud to have served the Ohio Treasurer’s Office in various creative capacities since 2018, including data and outreach management for the Ohio Checkbook and overseeing the Cristo Rey High School internship program. She is a lifelong Ohioan and a resident of Columbus, Ohio.
